I found a REALLY in Depth Article from a Link posted at Drug War Rant!

http://marijuana.drugwarrant.com

Yeah!

Quoted on May 26th 2009:

Quote
Many people assume that marijuana was made illegal through some kind of process involving scientific, medical, and government hearings; that it was to protect the citizens from what was determined to be a dangerous drug.

The actual story shows a much different picture. Those who voted on the legal fate of this plant never had the facts, but were dependent on information supplied by those who had a specific agenda to deceive lawmakers. You'll see below that the very first federal vote to prohibit marijuana was based entirely on a documented lie on the floor of the Senate.

You'll also see that the history of marijuana's criminalization is filled with:

    * Racism
    * Fear
    * Protection of Corporate Profits
    * Yellow Journalism
    * Ignorant, Incompetent, and/or Corrupt Legislators
    * Personal Career Advancement and Greed

These are the actual reasons marijuana is illegal.

My regimen these past several years has been Marinol 20 mg PO BID (I actually take one four times a day because I eat eight times a day). That and about three of ounces of lawyer grade (Or as close as I can come) a month. Blue Cross pays the lion's share for the Marinol that keeps me working so I can avail myself of their benefits. My share of the forty grand a year on Marinol is miniscule because of the word "Regents" on my policy. My opinion is that marijuana and Marinol are two very different animals. Marinol gives me more of an appetite but once I've eaten, Marijuana is the only answer for the nausea. If it's slowing me down any, then my friends must be smoking twice as much as me and not admitting it. My pot card says "Don't drive under the influence" but the pharmacist's warning with Marinol advises me to drive with caution? So, watch out if you see me coming!

I'll out myself with this but: If we're drinking and I ask if you've had enough, it's because I suspect I may have to fight you for your car keys. If we're just smoking a little pot, then it's a matter of common courtesy.

 Why is pot illegal?

Post by jbmac on Fri May 23, 2008 8:40 pm
To this day, everyone (Besides government and media) knows pot makes people
tired, lazy, content, happy, relaxed, artistic, etc. Everyone know booze makes you
the same way but can lead to violence and stupidity. Everyone knows pot is safe
when used responsibly. So, why is it illegal - is it the pharmacy/alcohol/oil barons?

I've never understood this either. I've tried to come up with an answer many times, to no avail. Maybe one day we'll know.
